"A blizzard on December
26th and 27th, 1947 shut Kearny
down with over 25 inches of snow. Streets were impassible
for over a week. That didn't stop us from going to our New
Year's Eve Dance!!  The girls had pants and boots under
their gowns, hiked up their gowns, and trudged, some over a
mile, to the dance. This was through knee to thigh deep snow
in many areas."
